Watertown, Wilson County

Roof repair and replacement in Watertown.

Watertown is the small railroad town in eastern Wilson County, built around a brick square that went up after a 1903 fire. We cover the town and the farm roads around Round Lick Creek and south toward Statesville.

Working in Watertown

What we see on Watertown roofs

Watertown grew from Wilson L. Waters’ 400 acre farm in the Round Lick Creek area, and it took off when the Nashville and Knoxville Railroad built a depot here in 1885. A fire in 1903 destroyed many of the wooden buildings in town. Residents laid out a new square lined mostly with one story brick buildings, and many of them still stand. That core is now the Watertown Commercial Historic District, along Main Street, Depot Avenue, and the Public Square, and excursion trains from the Tennessee Central Railway Museum still come out from Nashville to the depot.

Away from the square, Watertown is country. Just south of town, Statesville Road runs through hills and farmland on its way to Statesville. Homes on open ground take wind with little to slow it down, and a farm may have a barn or shop roof to look after along with the house. When we inspect, we walk every roof you ask about and photograph the shingles, flashing, and decking so you can see the condition yourself.

Watertown is about fifty minutes from our Murfreesboro base, up Highway 231 toward Lebanon and then east on Sparta Pike. Because of that drive, we book Watertown inspections and installs in blocks, on days when a crew is already working in eastern Wilson County. Call with your address and we will let you know which day we expect to be out your way.

Common needs

What Watertown homeowners usually call about

Older homes, hidden layers

In a town whose center was rebuilt in the early 1900s, an older house can hide a second layer of shingles or original plank decking. We check the decking at tear off and show you photos before replacing any of it.

Barn and shop metal

Exposed fastener panels are a practical choice for barns, shops, and equipment sheds. For the house itself, standing seam keeps the fasteners hidden from the weather.

Open hilltop exposure

Houses on the hills south of town catch wind from every direction. On roofs like these we pay close attention to starter strips, ridge caps, and nailing.
