What we see on Winchester roofs

The Tennessee Valley Authority began building Tims Ford Dam on the Elk River in 1966. The lake now covers more than 10,000 acres with about 250 miles of shoreline, and its arms follow Boiling Fork Creek and Dry Creek close to town. A house that faces open water can take more wind than one tucked into a wooded lot, so lakeside roofs get extra attention at the edges and ridge.

Winchester has its share of older homes as well. The local Historic Tour of Homes covers 90 houses built before 1929, and the Franklin County Courthouse anchors a downtown recognized as a Tennessee Main Street Community. Newer building has picked up too, led by Twin Creeks with about 600 homes planned and buyers arriving from Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Brentwood.

Winchester is roughly an hour and five minutes from Murfreesboro, and the last stretch runs about 15 miles off Interstate 24. Franklin County jobs are scheduled in blocks, with several homes handled on each trip. Call with your address and we will tell you plainly when the next block is set.

Common needs

What Winchester homeowners usually call about

Open water exposure

Lakeside lots along Tims Ford can catch wind with little to slow it down. We check starter rows, rakes, and ridge caps, where lifted shingles usually start.

Owners who live away

Some lake houses here are second homes. We photograph every issue and send a written proposal, so you can decide without driving down.

Block scheduled work

We set aside specific days for Franklin County jobs and group nearby homes together. That keeps long travel from stretching out your project.
