Working in Wartrace

What we see on Wartrace roofs

The Wartrace Historic District takes in Spring Street, Vine Street, and Knob Circle Road, with Queen Anne, Italianate, and bungalow houses near the tracks that still run through the middle of town. The Walking Horse Hotel, built in 1917, and the Historic Main Street Inn, from around 1906, give a sense of the age of the buildings. Steep pitches, multiple gables, and trimmed eaves mean tear off, flashing, and cleanup all need more planning here.

The country around town is Tennessee Walking Horse country. Wartrace has held a horse show every year since 1906, and Strolling Jim, the first world champion Walking Horse, is buried on the hotel grounds. Barns, stables, and shops on nearby farms are natural candidates for metal roofing.

From Murfreesboro the drive takes about thirty minutes by Interstate 24 and Highway 64 through Beech Grove. We can pair a Wartrace visit with other Bedford County work, and a free inspection with photos is simple to set up.

Common needs

What Wartrace homeowners usually call about

Queen Anne roof lines

Queen Anne houses carry steep, intersecting gables, while Italianate houses rely on wide eaves and brackets. Each style needs its own plan for flashing and trim protection.

Old brick and flashing

Three College Street houses were built from the bricks of the old Wartrace school. On masonry that old, we check how the flashing ties into the brick and plan new metal where the old has failed.

Walking horse barns

Stables and barns suit standing seam or exposed fastener metal. We can match panel colors across the barn, the shop, and the house.

Good questions

Questions from Wartrace

Can you put metal on our horse barn and shingles on the house in one project?

We can. We install standing seam and exposed fastener metal as well as architectural shingles. During the free inspection we measure each building, and the written proposal lists them separately so you can do both now or one at a time.

Do you inspect storm damage in Wartrace?

Yes. After hail or high wind in Wartrace we inspect, photograph, and give you a written summary you can keep or share with your insurer. Read our guide to storm damage and insurance claims before you file anything.
